Everyone enjoys the early tender asparagus, the succulent strawberries, that first flavorful tomato. But being a CSA member requires some responsibility on your part. Considering these questions might help you decide if a CSA would work for you. Are you willing to eat a wide variety of fresh, organic produce that is provided “seasonally” over the course of the summer? (A visit to the Turtle Farm website’s posted newsletters can give you an idea of what you get when.) Do you have some time each week to pick up, clean, and prepare your food? Can you give up some of the convenience of grocery store shopping to support a local farmer and that farm connection? Will you be around most of the summer to receive your produce? (During vacation weeks some members cancel their box, “gift” it to others, or share a membership for such times.)
"I like the wonderful surprise opening the box each week-like Christmas in summer."
